About Simple Table Recipes

Homemade bread and blueberry muffins on a kitchen table

Simple Table Recipes exists to make everyday cooking easier — one place for dependable homemade recipes that use familiar ingredients, give clear instructions, and don't make simple meals more complicated than they need to be.

What you'll find here

Practical food for real kitchens: easy weeknight dinners, budget-friendly meals, homemade bread and dough, everyday baking, comfort food, quick recipes for busy evenings, and a growing gluten-free section.

The test for whether something belongs on this site is simple. Could you realistically make it on an ordinary weeknight, with ingredients from an ordinary grocery shop, without buying equipment you'd use once? If not, it doesn't go up.

How the recipes are written

Every recipe on the site follows the same shape, because that consistency is what makes a recipe usable:

  • Times and yield up front. Prep time, cook time, total time and how much it makes — stated before you start, so you know what you're committing to.
  • Everyday ingredients. Nothing that needs a specialist shop or a single-use purchase.
  • Numbered steps, written plainly. No assumed knowledge, and a note where something is genuinely fiddly.
  • A photograph of the finished dish. Every recipe here has one, so you can see what you're aiming for.

For baking recipes, ingredients are given in both gram weights and familiar cup and spoon measurements, so you can use whichever method works best in your kitchen. Where volume doesn't make sense, there's a weight in brackets instead — three large bananas is not a fixed amount, and neither is a cup of flour.

What you won't find

You won't have to scroll past a long personal essay to reach the ingredients. The recipe is the point, so it sits at the top of every page where it belongs — and there's a print button on each one that gives you just the recipe card, nothing else.
