Homemade Hamburger Helper
One-skillet beef and macaroni in a creamy cheddar sauce, made from scratch.

- Step 1. Heat a large deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Step 2. Add the ground beef and onion.
- Step 3. Cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking the beef apart, until browned.
- Step 4. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Step 5. Add the garlic and tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
- Step 6. Stir in the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Step 7. Pour in the beef broth and milk.
- Step 8. Add the uncooked macaroni and stir well.
- Step 9. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low.
- Step 10. Simmer uncovered for 10–12 minutes, stirring frequently, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
- Step 11. Remove from the heat.
- Step 12. Stir in the cheddar cheese until completely melted and creamy.
- Step 13. Let stand for 2–3 minutes to thicken before serving.
